    Según José Ferreras Pagán, la Hacienda San Cristobal (posterior Central San Cristobal) fue fundada en el 1855 por un caballero de apellido Patxot, quien adquiere la finca y un molino de bueyes ya existentes. Es el Sr. Patxot quien vende a Don Alejandro Viader entre los años 1875-1880 y este último se hace cargo de ella hasta su fallecimiento en el 1901. De esta forma la propiedad pasa a sus herederos representados por el hijo de Don Alejandro, Don Ignacio Viader. Ya para el 1899, dos años antes de fallecer Don Alejandro, le habían sido instalados nuevos equipos a la vieja hacienda para iniciar su tranformación en central azucarera. Por el certificado de acciones mostrado arriba sabemos que luego es adquirida por The United States Mortgage and Trust Company en Manhattan, Nueva York, e incorporada en el 1910 bajo la leyes del estado de Conneticut como

    . Aparece como presidente y firmante de dichas acciones el Sr. John P. Walsh y como tesorero el Sr. E. J. Ryan. Para finales de la década, la central no estaba cumpliendo con las expectativas financieras y se vieron obligados a entrar en un proceso de administración judicial en 1913. Para la safra del 1914-15 fue arrendada a un grupo encabezado por la familia Behn, pero fue incapaz de alcanzar un grado óptimo de rentabilidad y la Corte Federal de los EU ordenó la venta de la misma pagar a los acreedores. Finalmente el molino fue desmantelado  en 1915 y la maquinaria vendida a la Macorís Sugar Company de la República Dominicana en 1916.
